I've been teaching free improvisation for music students for some time now, and today was final concert of fourth workshop; it never stops to amaze me how powerful experience free music is for those who play it, but also for those who listen to it, too!

I'm also writing my thesis about free improvisation as a pedagogical tool, as soon as I finish it I'll publish it in here too, only in finnish, though.

The Etnosoi! Saturday Club will be celebrating the publication of Juha Kujanpää’s solo album Kivenpyörittäjä. Kujanpää operates masterfully in the no-man’s land between folk music and jazz, and his album steers a decisive course along the interface between contemporary folk and Finnish progressive rock. The line-up includes Timo Kämäräinen, Tero Tuovinen and Jussi Miettola from the world of electric rock/jazz, and Esko Järvelä, Kukka Lehto and Tommi Asplund who play acoustic folk. The music combines beautiful violin melodies with aggressive fuzz guitars, power, Finnish forests and July nights. Juha Kujanpää is known particularly for his groups Karuna and Kirjava Lintu.
